For people who just want wireless Bluetooth earbuds that seamlessly pair with their Apple devices, basic AirPods make sense. But if you want sound-blocking active noise cancellation, the pricier AirPods Pro are the choice. Finally, after nearly three years, Apple updated these premium earbuds. (The cheaper AirPods got a refresh late last year, so we probably won’t see a new version soon.)

It’s right on time: My pair isn’t staying powered as long as it used to, because like all gadgets powered by lithium ion, battery life decays over time. And AirPod batteries can’t be replaced.
