Nokia C21 Plus review: Bang for the buck – Gadgets Now

August 30, 2022 by No Comments

Budget smartphones keep it pretty simple when it comes to design. Nokia C21 is somewhat better than the rest. At 8.6mm, the smartphone is slightly thick as compared to modern standards, but there’s a lot to appreciate, such as a reasonable screen bezel with a timid punch hole notch for the selfie sensor. The smartphone comes with curvy fingerprint-like patterns covering the plastic- polycarbonate rear panel and a glass front, and aluminum frame.

The smartphone comes in two colour variants–Dark Cyan and Grey.

The rear camera houses a dual camera setup placed inside a small rectangular block. The cameras are placed at the top-left side which is slightly above the fingerprint sensor.

The camera sports a 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor and features LED flash, HDR, panorama and others. The front comes with a 5MP sensor with an LED flash.

The phone is equipped with dual nano-SIM card options and also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot and offers additional space for storing images, videos and others. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack placed on the slightly left side on the top of the edge.

For charging, the phone includes a micro-USB charging port at the bottom.

Given the price, you should not expect the Nokia C21 to offer the best-in-class viewing experience, but the device is pretty good for the money. Nokia C21 features a 6.5-inch IPS display panel with a 1600×720 pixels resolution and an 82.1% screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone performed quite well while viewing 720 pixels resolution. The display is made scratch-resistant but it offers a little low colour accuracy on the low side. The screen adapted itself quite well to the outdoor conditions. However, there’s a lot to appreciate about the contrast ratio of 1604:1 and a high peak brightness of 390cd/m2.

We happened to stream HD content on YouTube and other OTT channels like Netflix, Prime and Hotstar, which the smartphone easily handled and provided adequate video resolution throughout. The speaker provides sufficient audio quality when played alongside the video content.

However, the touchscreen display is a bit prone to smudges while operating the device. It is suggested to keep a micro-fibre cloth ready in order to remove the smudges from the screen. Touch receptivity is not as smooth as we would have preferred.
