OnePlus Buds Z2 is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. With the Hey Melody app, users can check the battery level of the earpiece, install firmware updates, manage touch controls and turn on/off the noise cancellation feature.

If you use the earbuds with a OnePlus phone, you will get these features directly through the Bluetooth settings. With the Google Fast Pair, the earbuds will connect instantly to a OnePlus phone when taken out of the case. OnePlus phone users will also get additional features like equalizer customisation and the ability to adjust bass levels, which unfortunately is not available to other Android phone users.

In terms of sound output, OnePlus Buds Z2 delivers punchy audio with powerful bass. Vocals are loud and clear for the mids only. They are slightly compromised in favour of the bass and treble. It is equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers along with noise canceling up to 40dB. Noise cancellation performance of the device is good and it blocks out maximum of the surrounding noise. When one of the earpieces is removed, the second one automatically switches to Transparency mode. The Hey Melody app allows one to choose between different noise cancellation levels- average and Max.

For gamers, the earbuds offer low latency levels of up to 94ms with the Pro gaming mode enabled. OnePlus Buds Z2 comes with Bluetooth version 5.2 for connectivity. We did not face any problem with the connection in the given 10 meter range. Bluetooth connection was almost stable.

OnePlus Buds Z2 has three microphones and delivers clear sound during calls. The device has a built-in Find my device feature. Also, you can ring the earpiece to find it in case you have misplaced it. Another worth mentioning feature is the Quick Switch which enables the earbuds to disconnect from the current device and connect to previously paired devices. There is also in-ear detection that plays and pauses music automatically.

OnePlus Buds Z2 comes with IP55-rated internals and has a hydrophobic nano-coating. While the charging case has an IPX4 rating.
